Sri Lanka new taxes effective from 14.06.2022

Valued customer,

new Tax structure took place in Sri Lanka, which we apply for services from the 14th of June 2022.

New cumulative tax 23,2%, includes 12% VAT and 10% Service charge. All the Sri Lanka properties received instructions via email. Please note in the Revenue centre analysis you will find the Service charge and VAT separately.

Important

HotelTime has made every effort to ensure that minimal manual work is required by Hotel in order to comply with the new VAT rules.

However, the responsibility for setting the correct VAT rates for Guests and recording it correctly lies with the Hotel. Therefore please make extensive checks to ensure that all of your rates and services have the correct Rate Code according to the requirements and Tax liabilities of your property.

Please note, this change doesn't include these points, which need to be done manually - have a look at the short video - https://www.loom.com/share/6962be7bc2df41d0bb49d5270eb461b0

1. If you add items on accounts manually (Reservation - Menu - Add item), these items wouldn't be recalculated automatically.

Please make sure, your Hotel product and services are updated to the new VAT charge manually.

HotelTime tab Settings - Application - Product and services - hotel

Example:

2. We don't recalculate revenue in the past, even though the hotel account is still open. This may lead to differences in revenue and invoice items.

3. We don't recalculate outlet services and items.
